Wildlife in Bandhavgarh National Park

There are 22 and more species of mammals and  up to 250 species of birds. Ordinary Langers and Rhesus Macaque represent a group of monkeys. Carnivores include Asiatic Jackal, Bengal Fox, Sloth Bear, Ratel, Gray Mongoose, Striped Hyena, Jungal Cat, Leopard and Tiger. Theartiodactyls commonly seen in wild boars, spotted deer, Sambar, Chausingha, Nilgai Chinkara and Gaur. Mammals such as Dhole, Little Indian Civet, Palm Squirrel and Lesser Bandicoot Rat are occasionally seen. Among the herbivores, Gaur is the only feeder.


Flora in Bandhavgarh National Park

About half of Bandhavgarh Park is covered with beautiful Sal trees, while a dense jungle can be found high up in the highlands. Bamboo and grasslands extend northward, making it ideal for wildlife. Major wildlife scenery is still taking place in the center of the park and its 32 magnificent wooded hills. The National Park is home to an amazing variety of plants and shrubs that are covered with trees and herbs.

Fauna  In Bandhavgarh National Park

Plants in streams and wetlands are rich in birds. Common are Little Grebe, Egret less Adjutant Sarus Crane, Black Ibis, Lesser Whistling Teal, White-eyed Buzzard, Black Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, Black Vulture, Egypt Vulture, Common Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Juba, Parakeet, Kingfishers and Indian Roller. ReptilianFauna includes Cobra, Krait, Viper, Rat-snake, Python, Turtle and a number of species of lizards, including Varanus.

Tourist Places near Bandhavgarh National Park

Kanha: The sal and bamboo forests of Kanha, the evergreen grasslands and mighty streams stretch over 940 sq Km with the natural beauty that forms the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve. The park is the only exceptional hardwood Barasingha lodge.

Khajuraho: Khajuraho is located in the forested plains of Madhya Pradesh in the Bundelkhand region. Khajuraho is famous for its unique architecture, especially the famous chandela temples. These temples are an immortal gift on earth.

Bhedaghat: As it rises with glittering beauty, the Marble Rocks in Bhedaghat rise to a hundred feet on both sides of Narmada. The tranquil beauty of the scene is soothing, the sun shining brightly on the white rocks and the black and green volcanic views of the volcanoes are truly stunning, and they produce a magical effect on a moonlit night. In the distance, turbulence rises as it enters a huge waterfall known as Dhuandhar.

Jabalpur: An amusement park and capital of the Gond Kings in the 12th century, Jabalpur later became the seat of the Kalchuri dynasty. Today Jabalpur is an important administrative center, busy with commercial activity.

Weather in Bandhavgarh

The average annual rainfall is 1,173 mm which is very helpful during the rainy season (mid-June to September). Temperatures range from 42 C in May and June to about 4 C in winter, and summer coats of natural colors are best from March to May. Sunglasses and sunhats are best. From November to February (winter) carry warm morning clothes and foggy nights. The best time to see tigers is from November to June.

The park is end from July 1 to September 30.

How to reach Bandhavgarh National Park

By Air: Flight from Delhi, Agra or Varanasi to Khajurao and drive to Tala access port of Bandhavgarh. The nearest airport from Khajuraho park.

By train: The nearest train station is Umaria behind the Katni railway station from there about 40 minutes to Nature Heritage. Alternatively, take an overnight train from Delhi to Umaria and drive to the park. Only jeep available for transfer.
